The process of change begins first from within. The stories of Khalifa Omar and Hanzala (r) clearly show this attribute in the first community of believers.
Gupshup/Najwa ... campus buzz
In this section I would like to share with you what other students are sharing with me :) I will be very open with all of you ... Here is a list of ideas/concerns I am hearing from the students:
- A petition for unity of the two clubs
- Need a prayer place on College Ave with a small Islamic library.
- Muslim students fund raising Basketball tournament in making.
- Want to play in a Muslim flag football league.
- The goal of the chaplain should be to unite Muslims on campus.
- Need to have a Qur'an class
- NY Times article 2/4/07 on shia/sunna had an obvious bias
- History of Karbala talk by the chaplain was well-balanced and helpful in understanding the tragedy and uniting shia' and sunni Muslims.
- Students want to work with chaplaincy.
- ISRU elections
- PSA Bhangra Night!
- al-Fatiha completion Event
-B-Ball Event was a great success with 12 teams
-Around 500 people attended Rutgers-Newark Napoleon Event.
-Sirah of the Prophet (s) - part of Quran Study Group - mashAllah the attendance was great.
-Unity Dinner - unity of hearts and minds - the biggest challange on campus today.
- Scavenger hunt was a great idea, MSA Salam - Quiz Bowl, ISRU Brothers are the new champs! - 3rd annual IAW, Islam Awareness Week...plenty of work - need for prayer space for students - chaplaincy & interfaith at New Brunswick Theological Seminary - next year community projects - RU and dawah on campus - coming years RU should be a dawah hub cause there are 3-4000 Muslims on campus

I would like to have a brief summary of the meeting, who was the speaker, attendance, good ideas, announcements, etc. If possible, it would be nice to have pictures of the meeting on the blog. email me if you are interested
